Police Outreach

New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo's Executive Order 203 requires each law enforcement agency in NYS to create a police reform and reinvention plan in a collaborative manner with the community.  The plan is to be approved by the Village Board and submitted to NYS by April 1, 2021.  A statement from the Governor’s office said, “the purpose of the New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative is to foster trust, fairness, and legitimacy within communities throughout our State and to address any racial bias and disproportionate policing of communities of color.”

The Village of Hamburg and the Village Police Department reached out to the public with a community-wide survey to get their input on policing.  They had a good response, with the majority of respondents expressing their satisfaction with the Village Police Department.  Additionally, the Village of Hamburg and the Police Department hosted a virtual meeting on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 to discuss policing, the survey results, and to answer questions from the community.  For a recording of the Police Outreach meeting and copies of the power point slides please CLICK HERE.

Below is a draft of the final plan.  We welcome your comments and will accept them until March 10.  Please email your comments to msalerno@villagehamburg.com.
