RESOLVING TICKETS FOR TRAFFIC INFRACTIONS: In person appearances for traffic matters are occurring only if the situation cannot be resolved through plea negotiations with the Village Prosecutor by mail. If you have been issued a ticket for an infraction of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law (VTL), you must submit your plea to the court by the appearance date shown on your traffic ticket. A plea of guilty will result in the judge assessing a fine and/or surcharge on the offense for which the ticket was issued. A plea of not guilty will result in the Village Prosecutor reviewing the matter and sending you a plea offer by mail. You will need to submit your acceptance or rejection of the plea to the court. If you reject the plea, you will be noticed of an appearance date. If you accept the plea, the judge will review the matter and, if accepted, a fine and/or surcharge will be assessed on the reduced charge. Please see the link at the bottom of this page for additional information regarding your options in resolving VTL infractions.
